Today i finalised my templates I would use for my magazine advert. I have decided to make templates for a wide range of methods that magazine advertising can use.
Basic small sized Advert
This is a small advert, usually on a hole page of adverts towards the back of the magazine.
Normally this style of advert would have a big bold image with bold text to make sure the reader views that advert rather then the others surrounding it. I have chose to go the opposite direction but hopefully gain the same effect. By having minimal writing and not giving a huge amount of detail away about my product the audience will become curious about that exactly the advert is trying to do. For example many UK television adverts have done the same by having characters and scenes with little or no relevance to the product. Wongerman
Single page spread.
This is a common advertising technique used within the magazine industry. A basic idea of taking up a whole page of a double page spread to advertise one product. Again this would normally include lots of information about the product, but I plan to do otherwise and keep to the simplistic style of my pieces. If I choose to use this advertisement technique i would include more information about the product (such as a release date and website) but wouldn’t advertise the product itself. There would be no images of the product, just a still image from the music video that has been highly edited. (Background defocused and faces morphed)
Continuous single page advertisement.
This would not a a double spread spread like the image indicates. It would be 2 separate pages put on a double spread spread next to a normal article and would sit one after the other. so as the viewer sees the first advert on the right side of the double spread when they turn they would see the second advert on the right side of the second page. I plan to illustrate a change in the person who is in the image (posed against a brick wall through a medium shot) over the course of the 2 pages.
